3Com offers a complete line of telephones for NBX solutions. All of them are exceptionally easy to use, and are flexible enough to meet the needs of virtually any organization. Auto-discovery allows easy installation and pain-free moves-adds-changes (MACs), with minimal administrator intervention required. Users can plug their phones in anywhere on the network and not lose their custom-programmable features. Browser-based administration and training make it simple for non-technical staff to customize the phones. The phones can operate as Layer 2 (Ethernet) or Layer 3 (IP) devices, and feature embedded DSP (digital signal processing) intelligence, built-in QoS (802.1p and ToS), and compression mechanisms for voice clarity. Most phone models include a built-in switch port, so a computer can easily share the same cable infrastructure as the telephone. Phones may be placed remotely for seamless telecommuter access to corporate, regional, or branch telephony capabilities. The optional 3Com LegacyLink gateway provides interoperability between 3Com NBX systems and legacy digital Nortel Meridian® and Norstar® telephones or analog phones.
